Areas We Serve · Johnson County, Kansas
Shawnee Movers Rooted in the Oldest Town in Johnson County.
Shawnee was a Kansas Territory capital before statehood. Today the city splits 60/40 between two top-rated school districts, and a 13-foot Wild Bill Hickok statue watches over Nieman Road. Our crews show up knowing which side of the K-7 corridor your address sits on. And we know which Old Shawnee streets need a smaller-truck approach.
What Sets Shawnee Apart
A Truck-Farming Heritage, a Two-District Map, and an Older Housing Stock.
Shawnee was incorporated in 1856, which makes it older than every neighboring suburb on the Kansas side. Of course that history shows up in the work. Specifically, in narrow Old Shawnee streets, in the De Soto-versus-Shawnee Mission school boundary that runs right through the city, and in the more affordable homes around Quivira Road and Pflumm. Each of those realities changes how we scope a move.
A Westside / Eastside School Split
About 60 percent of Shawnee falls inside De Soto USD 232 on the westside, which feeds Mill Valley High School. The other 40 percent on the eastside belongs to Shawnee Mission USD 512, feeding Shawnee Mission Northwest. Families moving for one district need an address-by-address verification, especially around Pflumm and the K-7 corridor.
Old Shawnee Historic Core
The area around Nieman Road, Johnson Drive, and the new Wild Bill Hickok sculpture holds homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s. In particular, these streets have narrow approaches, pre-war doorway widths, and no overnight truck parking. We bring a smaller-truck strategy when a load originates here.
Mixed Older and Newer Housing Stock
Most of Shawnee was built between 1960 and 2000, but the westside Monticello area added newer construction in the 2010s and 2020s. As a result, one Shawnee move might involve a 1970s split-level on Caenen Heights and another a 2022 four-bedroom in Eagle Creek Estates. Our crew scopes each property on its own terms.
Our Process
Five Steps Tuned to Old Shawnee, the K-7 Corridor, and the Monticello Westside.
A Shawnee move usually starts with one of three logistics questions. For example, can the truck reach the front door directly. Meanwhile, does the destination need an HOA notification or a Shawnee Town festival-weekend reroute. And which side of the school boundary the address actually sits on. Here is how we work through each.
Lock the District and HOA on the First Call
Specifically, we verify whether your destination address belongs to De Soto USD 232 or Shawnee Mission USD 512. Additionally, we contact any homeowners association on the westside Monticello plats or the eastside Caenen Heights subdivisions. That paperwork gets handled before move day, so nothing slows down the truck.
Walk the Property and the Approach
An Old Shawnee bungalow off Johnson Drive is a different load than a new Brittany Valley four-bedroom. For example, the older homes often have narrow basement stairs and tight front-porch turns. We measure doorways, photograph the driveway grade, and confirm the approach route.
Plan Around Shawnee Mission Pkwy and K-7
Shawnee Mission Parkway is the diagonal artery, and K-7 is the western spine. In fact, the K-7 and Shawnee Mission Parkway interchange backs up during weekday rush hour. We schedule load and unload windows around the chokepoints, so the truck stays moving.
Use a Severe-Weather Backup Plan
Tornado watches happen 106 percent more often around Shawnee than the national average. Of course we cannot control the weather. Even so, we monitor the National Weather Service through move day and keep a safe-hold protocol ready if a watch goes to warning.
Walk Both Ends Before We Pull Out
Once the load is set, we walk the origin home and the new property with you. That said, we look in basements, garages, attics, and outbuildings before the truck leaves either address. No loose ends, no surprise calls the next morning.

Shawnee Move Questions
What People Moving Into and Out of Shawnee Want Cleared Up.
Shawnee splits between De Soto USD 232 and Shawnee Mission USD 512. How do you confirm which one my address falls in?
We pull the address up against both district boundary maps before quoting.
About 60 percent of Shawnee sits inside De Soto USD 232 on the westside, which sends students to Mill Valley High School. The remaining 40 percent on the eastside belongs to Shawnee Mission USD 512 and feeds Shawnee Mission Northwest. In particular, the boundary cuts through neighborhoods around Pflumm Road and K-7 in patterns that look random on a street view. We verify the actual assignment with the district registrar before the move date locks in.
I am buying an older home near Nieman Road and Johnson Drive. What does the loading approach look like in Old Shawnee?
Old Shawnee loads use a smaller origin truck and a transfer plan.
The historic core around Nieman Road and Johnson Drive has narrow side streets, late-1800s doorway widths, and no overnight commercial parking. Additionally, the new Wild Bill Hickok sculpture at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Nieman Road has changed traffic patterns at that intersection. For example, we use a smaller box truck to clear the origin home and then transfer the load to the main truck at a staging point near 47th Street.
Will Shawnee Mission Parkway or K-7 traffic affect my move-day window?
We schedule load and unload windows around the chokepoints.
The K-7 and Shawnee Mission Parkway interchange backs up between 7 and 9 in the morning and again between 4:30 and 6 in the evening. Meanwhile, the 47th Street and Quivira intersection adds its own delay during the school-year rush. As a result, we usually start a Shawnee move at 8 a.m. or after 9:30 a.m. to keep the truck moving and your hourly time honest.
I just closed on a newer Monticello-area subdivision off K-7. What should I know about the westside approach?
Westside new-build subdivisions need a walkthrough of the gate, the streets, and the HOA rules.
Brittany Valley, Eagle Creek Estates, Quivira Woods, and the newer Monticello-area builds all sit west of K-7. Specifically, the streets are wider than Old Shawnee but the HOAs are stricter on move-in hours and truck parking. We confirm the HOA window with your management company, photograph the driveway grade in advance, and pre-stage floor and wall protection for the longer interior carries that come with newer homes.
A property next to Shawnee Mission Park has limited road access. Can your truck reach it?
Yes, we cover every neighborhood adjacent to Shawnee Mission Park.
Shawnee Mission Park is 1,600 acres and includes a 120-acre lake, making it the largest park in Johnson County. In fact, several of the homes immediately around it sit on private drives or shared easements that need a route check before move day. We map the approach with you in advance. Furthermore, on weekend moves we plan around the park visitor traffic on Renner Road and 87th Street Parkway.
I am downsizing out of a four-bedroom split-level on Quivira Road. Can you help with the inventory side too?
Yes. Downsize moves get an inventory walkthrough at the origin home first.
Shawnee has the oldest median age of the Kansas-side Johnson County suburbs we serve. For example, a four-bedroom split-level built in the 1970s often holds 50 years of furniture, stored seasonal items, and full basements. Even so, our crew walks the origin home with you, flags pieces that will not fit the new footprint, and connects you with local donation pickup partners for items you want to leave behind.
